Michael Simkin was born and raised in NDG. He has undergraduate degrees in law and environmental science as well a Master of Space Science and has been a member of the Barreau du Québec since 2007. With more than 10 years of experience in corporate governance, particularly in the not-for-profit sector, Michael has developed a deep understanding of corporations from a multitude of perspectives: as a shareholder, a board member, an administrator, an employee, a union representative, and as counsel.
Michael is known for his leadership, his expertise in community organizing, his social entrepreneurship and his strong communications skills. Always looking to make a difference at the local level, Michael continues to work with residents, businesses and community groups to help them overcome challenges and realize their projects. As an active member of the NDG community, Michael ran for municipal office in 2013. In 2014, he co-founded the Association for the Promotion of Sherbrooke Street West and is currently President.
